CRITICAL DISCOURSE ANALYSIS ON MATA NAJWA EMPTY-CHAIR INTERVIEW #MATANAJWAMENANTITERAWAN

Mata Najwa empty-chair is an interviewer’s last resort to criticize the health crisis during the pandemic. This research focuses to reveal the utterance of hashtag #MataNajwaMenantiTerawan and purpose of empty-chair interview at Mata Najwa using critical discourse analysis (CDA). The approach of research using three-dimensional CDA of Norman Fairclough has a purpose to describe macro, micro, and mezzo. This study also describes social, political, and cultural situation level by linguistic aspects. The result of study shows that linguistic aspect used in #MataNajwaMenantiTerawan is a metaphor. The movement is indicated as social and institutional criticism of the government in Covid-19 management. Then, an empty-chair interview is aimed to make points of public criticism of the failure of the health minister. Related to Mata Najwa and Narasi TV as neutral and independent mass media, it is acceptable journalistically to have criticism of the government during the crisis of Covid- 19 crisis in Indonesia. TEACHER’S STRATEGY IN TEACHING SPEAKING DURING COVID-19 PANDEMIC

Due to The Covid-19 Pandemics all the educational sectors around the world needed to be closed. As a response to that Governments worldwide announced the necessity to shift traditional learning to online learning. Schools and teachers were required to implement online learning in a matter of days developing their knowledge and skills for teaching in remote and flexible contexts. Teachers have to learn new strategies and use a variety of strategies for teaching during this online learning. One of the most important skills to learn is speaking, because based on regulations from the minister of education and culture on the 2013 curriculum, students must understand speaking well because it is an important skill in communicating English. When students are able to communicate in English they can express their ideas and will encourage the development of fluency in their English speaking. For that reason, teachers must use new strategies so that teaching and learning can still continue. This paper will focus on the strategies to implement speaking effectively in learning.

SELF-REGULATED ONLINE LEARNING DURING PANDEMIC COVID-19 OF POSTGRADUATE STUDENT

The purpose of writing this article is to analyse the role of self- regulated learning in the pandemic era covid19 and how postgraduate students self-regulate in online learning. The COVID-19 PANDEMIC, which has become a global pandemic, is currently demanding the government through the Ministry of Education and Culture (Kemendikbud) issue a Circular regarding learning and working from home in the context of preventing COVID 19 for teachers and for students for all displays throughout Indonesia. The only possible learning option in the midst of this pandemic situation is online learning. To solve this problem Postgraduate Students should be able to take advantage of the existing situation with conducive online learning activities, students must have their own strategies that support the academic improvement of students. Self-regulated learning (SRL) self-regulation in learning can be understood as the process of a student activating his own thoughts, feelings and behaviour in a systematic way that aims to achieve the desired learning goals. In other words, as a mechanism to help explain differences in achievement among students and as a means to improve achievement.

THE PEDAGOGY IN ONLINE LEARNING: CHALLENGES AND OPPORTUNITIES

The rapid spread of the COVID-19 pandemic has created a disruption in Indonesia’s education sector as teachers and students are unable to continue their teaching and learning activity in schools and/or universities. Consequently, this has forced governments to close schools and/or universities, and switch traditional learning to online learning. Therefore, this article aims to review the pedagogy in online learning. It focuses on the theoretical and practical concept of online learning in terms of technology integration, classroom interaction, and online assessment. During the implementation of online learning, there are numerous reported impacts, both opportunities and challenges, faced by teachers. First, online learning allows teachers to be flexible in integrating the technology tools and the internet in seek of knowledge and transfer it to others. Unfortunately, lack of knowledge and training of technology integration somehow is likely to face technical problem in use. Second, online learning promotes good and effective classroom interaction if some factors, such as instruction, learners, and physical factors are settled. Last, online learning facilitates teachers to conduct online assessments which are effective and efficient to be tested. Inopportunely, multiple challenges will be faced by them, such as validity and reliability of the test, and students’ academic integrity.

THIRD CULTURE KIDS: LANGUAGE ACQUISITION THROUGH LITERACY PRACTICES

Over the past few centuries, the world has experienced a number of changes related to global commerce, travel, and technology. The process of globalization has increased interconnectedness and interdependence between people and countries all over the world. Due to mutual interests, many countries around the globe established economic relationships which led to social mobility and migration. By this time, English had become the second language of many former British colonies and also the language of science, engineering, information technology, medicine, and tourism. Consequently, English became an international language between nations. In the midst of this globalized and international scene emerged the phenomenon of Third Culture Kids (TCKs). This term refers to children who grew up in a culture different from the one in which his or her parents grew up. These children need to adapt not just to a different culture, but also acquire new languages in order to communicate and express themselves. Many of them are bilingual or multilingual, and the English language plays an important role in their sense of belonging and fitting in a different culture. This paper will focus on their journey of language acquisition through many schools in the countries they are living in as well as the role of their parents in home literacy.

DEVELOPING STUDENTS’ VOCABULARY MASTERY USING BLIND FOLD GAMES IN ONLINE LEARNING

Learning system in Indonesia has done by online learing during the pandemic. Teachers need to prepare digital material to be delivered in online learning. This study investigated about developing students’ vocabulary mastery during the Covid-19 pandemic by using blindfold games in online study class. The main problem of this study was to see there was significant improvement or not after the students was taught vocabulary by using blind fold game. The objective of this study is to find out whether Blind fold Games significantly improve the students’ vocabulary achievement. This study used pre-experimental with one group pre-test post-test design. The population of this study is the 11^th grade student major of Hotel of SMK Madyatama Palembang which is divided into two classes with total number 56 students. This study used random sampling by 28 samples from population. The data were collected through vocabulary test with 30 questions and analysed by using Wilcoxon test formula. From the result of this study, it was found that 11^th grade students of SMK Madyatama Palembang have significant improvement in vocabulary achievement.

The problem of this thesis was concerned to Parents’ Perceptions of Primary School towards Online Learning during the COVID-19 Pandemic Period: A Case Study in SD N 9 Lubai Ulu. The objective of this study was to find out The Parents’ Perceptions of Primary School towards Online Learning and to find out the factors that influence the student’s ability in writing descriptive text of the eighth-grade students of SD N 9 Lubai Ulu. The writers used descriptive method to conduct this study. Then, the population of this study was all of parent of students at SD N 9 Lubai Ulu. Next, the writers used simple random sampling technique to get the sample; the total of the sample was 86 parents. The writer used test and questionnaire in collecting the data. Based on the finding, the writers concluded that the students’ parents of SD N 9 Lubai Ulu thought that using Whatsapp as platform online learning during the COVID-19 Pandemic Period was not effective for their children. Most of them gave negative answer for each statement. The answer of strongly disagree and disagree were become their major answer of the questionnaire given. Based on the mean score of perception, the students’ parents of SD N 9 Lubai Ulu was in disagree category. It’s mean that using online learning platform, by whatapps application is not suitable for primary school.

THE CHALLENGES IN TEACHING AND LEARNING SPEAKING DURING COVID-19 PANDEMIC

Speaking is the ability to express oneself in the situation or the activity. To provide a meaningful communication, students need to master speaking skill. COVID-19 pandemic forces the teaching and learning activities carrying out online which become a new challenge for teachers and students all over the world. This paper focuses on the challenges in teaching and learning speaking during COVID-19 pandemic and the possible solution to overcome those challenges. Several related literature are used to describe and analyze what are the online learning challenges and how teachers deal with the challenges especially speaking. The findings revealed various challenges from the general problem related to the internet connection and devices to the specified one such as students’ readiness to learn speaking which leads to lack of speaking skills, do not know what to speak because of enable to elaborate the materials given. The use of integrated technology as the learning media and teachers’ strategies and creativity to build a good environment in class is one of the solutions to encourage and to improve students’ speaking skill in online learning during the pandemic.

This article is about the description of applying social media assisted English learning to Business Administration students before and during Covid-19 pandemic. The purpose of this study is to explain English proficiency, listening ability, and reading comprehension as a result of making use of social media as learning aid before and during Covid-19 pandemic. Quantitative descriptive method used for research methodology. 501 data of four years Business Administration students’ TOEIC (Test of English as International Communication) test scores were collected from 2018 to 2021. These data were analysed using Excel Quantitative Descriptive Statistics Program. The result was the decline of average scores of the English Proficiency, listening, and reading comprehension in online learning during Covid-19 pandemic. The conclusion was the use of social media as learning support was more beneficial when it was done under the teacher's control. It was also good assistance for the high proficiency level students but a great challenge for the low proficiency students.

education and training to address climate change. The UN Framework Convention on Climate Change, the Paris Agreement, and the associated

Action for Climate Empowerment (ACE) agenda call on governments to educate, empower and engage all stakeholders and major groups on policies and actions relating to climate change. UNESCO has been working to make education a more central and visible part of the international response to climate change. Education is crucial to promote climate action. It helps people understand and address the impacts of the climate crisis, empowering them with the knowledge, skills, values, and attitudes needed to act as change agents. This issue makes education needed to promote climate change to the global nation. One of the ways to announce it is to include reading materials about climate change through report texts. By learning this text, students will have knowledge and awareness in nurturing the world, especially their environments. This study aimed to elaborate the students’ needs in English report texts on climate change in terms of Want/Target Situation Analysis, Present Situation Analysis, Necessities/Need Analysis, and Knowledge Analysis.

WORKSHOP ON CREATING PRESENTATION VIDEO OF TEACHING MATERIALS WITH PRESENTER'S FACE BY USING THE NEWEST VERSION OF MS. POWERPOINT 2019 FOR TEACHERS AT SMA SRIJAYA NEGARA TO SIMPLIFY LEARNING DURING THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC

The conditions during the Pandemic Corona Virus Disease-19 (Covid-19) had demanded teachers and lecturers to design communicative teaching materials by utilizing the many kinds of media. This community service aimed to conduct a workshop on creating presentation videos of teaching materials with the presenter's face using the newest version of Ms. PowerPoint 2019 for teachers at SMA Srijaya Negara to simplify the learning process during the Covid-19 pandemic. The community service team used a workshop method. Ms. PowerPoint 2019 was cheaper than an online platform like Canva since the teachers did not need an internet connection to use it. The teachers made teaching material videos according to their subjects. They presented the result of their works in front of the class. The other participants commented on the teacher's work. They revised the video based on comments and suggestions from their colleagues. The community service team suggested the teachers upload their teaching materials video on YouTube or the official school website. From this community service, the team concluded that teachers could create teaching material videos where the teacher's face appeared on video using only Ms. PowerPoint 2019.

KEARIFAN LOKAL DALAM CERPEN “JALAK DI PUNGGUNG KERBAU” KARYA ROMI ZARMAN

Penelitian ini bertujuan mendeskripsikan kearifan lokal yang terdapat dalam cerpen Jalak di Punggung Kerbau karya Romi Zarman. Aspek kearifan lokal yang dikaji dalam penelitian ini yaitu pandangan hidup (filsafat), sikap sosial dan nasihat, serta kebiasaan hidup sehari-hari. Metode penelitian yang digunakan yaitu penelitian deskriptif kualitatif. Pendekatan yang digunakan yaitu pendekatan antropologi sastra. Data dikumpulkan dengan cara mengidentifikasi kearifan lokal yang terdapat dalam cerpen Jalak di Punggung Kerbau karya Romi Zarman. Analisis data menggunakan pendekatan antropolgi sastra. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat kearifan lokal dalam cerpen Jalak di Punggung Kerbau karya Romi Zarman, antara lain sebagai berikut; dari aspek pandangan hidup (filsafat), masyarakat Minangkabau percaya bahwa wanita hamil besar dilarang keluar rumah untuk keselamatan ibu dan anak, dari aspek sikap sosial dan nasihat, terdapat hubungan yang harmonis antara binatang (kerbau dan burung jalak) dan manusia dalam bentuk saling menjaga, serta dari aspek kebiasaan hidup sehari-hari tampak bahwa saling membantu antara suami dan istri dalam pekerjaan rumah tangga sangat dihargai. Dengan demikian, terdapat kearifan lokal dalam cerpen Jalak di Punggung Kerbauyang patut dilestarikan.

ANALISIS SOSIOLOGI SASTRA DAN NILAI PENDIDIKAN KARAKTER DALAM NOVEL LAUT BERCERITA KARYA LEILA S. CHUDORI

Penelitian ini bertujuan mendeskripsikan fakta sosial, peristiwa sosial, perilaku sosial, serta nilai-nilai pendidikan yang terkandung dalam novel Laut Berceritakarya Leila S. Chudori. P. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif kualitatif dengan metode content analysis. Metode ini digunakan untuk membuat inferensi yang valid dari sebuah dokumen yaitu dengan mengidentifikasi data, mengklasifikasi data, analisis datadan kontribusi hasil penelitian. Dokumen yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah novel Laut Berceritakarya leila S. Chudori.Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, dapat disimpulkan dalam novel Laut Bercerita menguak fakta sosial dan peristiwa sosial yang terjadi pada tahun 1998 terkait pelanggaran HAM, serta perilaku sosial masyarakat Indonesia khususnya mahasiswa terhadap pemerintah Orde Baru.Selain itu, terdapat sepuluh nilai pendidikan karakter positif yang terdapat dalam novel Laut Bercerita. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya potret kondisi sosial budaya pada era Orde Baru yang tergambar dari novel Laut Bercerita melalui sosiologi pengarang, sosiologi karya, dan sosiologi pembaca, serta nilai-nilai pendidikan karakter yang relevan dengan kondisi masyarakat saat ini.

MAKNA GANDA DALAM KALIMAT TIDAK KECUALI UNTUK MENDAHULUKAN IBADAH SEBAGAI KONSTANTA 12 HAHSLM 472319 DI PUSARAN EKONOMI COVID

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk menganalisis kalimat tidak dan kecuali sebagai kata dengan urutan kata sesuai obyek di era ekonomi covid. Obyek penelitian ini adalah kata negative tidak dan keculai serta ayat kitab suci. Studi dikerjakan dengan penelusuran buku, jurnal, kitab suci serta media elektronik lainnya. Metodologi yang digunakan adalah deskriptif analitis dalam kalimat analogi dan kalimat negasi dalam tata Bahasa Indonesia. Metode yang dipakai adalah perbandingan dan analogiserta pendekatan Hahslm 472319. Hasil yang diperoleh bahwa perbandingan kata tidak dan keculai dengan kalimat lain dapat dibandingkan dengan sekuen ibadah kemudian manusia. Makna QS. Adz-Dzariyat [51]:56 yang memiliki kata negasi tidak kecuali yaitu dan tidak aku ciptakan jin dan manusia kecuali untuk ibadah memperkuat adanya urutan obyek kata. Similaritas obyek dalam kalimat Aku punya tamu kemudian membuat kopt menjadi sesuai penegas paradigma adanya proses pendahulu sebelum aktivitas utama. Kehadiran blue print merupakan refleksivitas dari konstanta 12 yang tersimpan dari nomor surat ayat Quran 51.56 yaitu (1+5) dikali (5+6) akar digit 2 menjadi 6x2=12. Simpulan bahwa subyek Aku dalam kalimat negasi tersebut bukan menciptakan manusia dulu kemudian manusia disuruh beribadah, tetapi Aku pertama kali membuat desain ibadah lebih dahulu, kemudian dilanjutkan dengan menciptakan manusia.

PELATIHAN TOEFL MASA COVID-19 MELALUI DARING BAGI SMKN 1 PANYINGKIRAN, MAJALENGKA

Pelatihan TOEFL melalui media online merupakan sebuah upaya yang dilakukan oleh instruktur untuk memanfaatkan media pembelajaran bagi siswa yang saat ini diharuskan belajar di rumah. Pelatihan TOEF bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan siswa dalam memahami materi TOEFL dengan tujuan memperoleh peningkatan skor TOEFL. Metode yang digunakan adalah melalui ceramah dan diskusi yang dilakukan via zoom dan diakhiri dengankegiatan tes. Kegiatan ini dilakukan terhadap tiga puluh enam siswa SMK Negeri Panyingkiran Majalengka. Selama proses kegiatan ini, para siswa sangat antusias untuk memahami materi TOEFL. Kegiatan ini dilaksanakan pada November 2020—Januari 2021. Hasil yang diperoleh dari kegiatan ini adalah adanya peningkatan skor TOEFL di atas 400. Peningkatan skor ini cukup signifikan karena siswa yang mengikuti pelatihan ini adalah siswa yang baru pertama kali mempelajari TOEL. Para siswa memiliki pengalaman pertama dalam mempelajari dan mengikuti tes ini. Dampak dari kegiatan ini diharapkan siswa SMK yang ada di Majalengka khususnya bisa termotivasi untuk mempelajari TOEFL

BAHAN AJAR SEJARAH PENDIDIKAN INDONESIA REFLEKSI PERBAIKAN PENDIDIKAN

Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk menghasilkan bahan ajar sejarah pendidikan Indonesia dan metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah penelitian pengembangan. Subyek penelitian ini adalah mahasiswa semester II Program studi pendidikan Bahasa dan Sastra Indonesia FKIP Universitas Sriwijaya. Data dikumpulkan melalui observasi, wawancara, kuesioner, dan tes untuk melihat kebutuhan mahasiswa, mengamati sikap mereka terhadap bahan ajar dan Sejarah Perkembangan Pendidikan, dan untuk mengukur aspek kognitif mereka. Temuan penelitian ini adalah: 1) bahan ajar dan Sejarah Perkembangan Pendidikan adalah sah dan praktis, 2) mahasiswa terlibat aktif selama pelajaran digunakan bahan ajar 3) bahan ajar memiliki efek positif pada hasil belajar mahasiswa dan refleksi perbaikan pendidikan.

DIGITAL LITERACY TRAINING FOR TEACHERS OF ENGLISH TO SUPPORT 21ST CENTURY LEARNING

Digital technologies have become an integral part of human’s activities. Therefore, it is imperative that digital literacy becomes the focus of 21st century education. The shift to online teaching during the pandemic has intensified the use of digital tools and online sources in learning. Despite the necessity to incorporate digital technologies and the teaching of digital literacy skills in the classroom, many teachers are not equipped to do this. This community research project focused on providing a training on digital literacy for 85 teachers of English who taught in the secondary and high schools in various regencies within the South Sumatra Province. After being involved in virtual training and teacher study group, the teachers showed higher perceived digital literacy ability and intention of use in their classrooms. Implications of this training includes the importance of professional development in digital literacy which allowed teachers to have a hands-on training and collaborative learning within a supportive teacher study group.
